Maintaining your braces — Advice and recommendations

Dr. Christos Sideris believes it is very important to educate patients about hygiene and how to maintain their braces. When you start your treatment, you will get detailed information on how to clean your braces and maintain good dental hygiene.

We also recommend that you avoid the following foods because they could damage your braces :

Ice, nuts, peanut brittle

Hard candies

Toffee, caramel and very sticky foods

Chewing gum

Foods you need to bite into, such as whole apples and oranges; these need to be cut into smaller pieces

Corn on the cob, unless you cut the kernels off the cob before eating

Things which will help you to prevent repairs

Do not bite on foreign objects, like pencils and pens

Do not play with your appliances with your fingers or other objects and avoid nail biting

Wear a mouthguard when playing sports

Avoid horseplay with friends and siblings. This can prevent trauma to face and appliances

Rule #1

Check your appliances once each day. If you notice something loose or broken, please advise the office immediately to arrange an adjustment visit

We accept both referred and non-referred
